Learn From a Pro: Takeaways from Our Facebook Live With a Sex and Relationships Coach

We recently had the pleasure of having Abby Tacon, a sex and relationships coach, on our Facebook live. She shared a wealth of information with us which can be applied to almost every relationship! One of the most important things she talked about was communication. Here are our 3 takeaways from our chat with Abby that will help you strengthen your communication skills in your relationships!  

1. Listen to Understand, Not to Respond: When talking with your partner, it is important to acknowledge what they are saying and take the time to really understand their point of view. Remembering that this could of taken huge courage from your partner to be open and vulnerable with you. Don’t jump in with a response but instead take some time to process what you have heard before responding. This will create an environment where each person feels heard and respected.  

2. Be Open to Feedback: It is important to be open and receptive to feedback, even if it is not what you want to hear. As Abby said, “communication is key to connection in a relationship”. Communication isn’t just about telling someone your feelings but also being open to hearing theirs. 

3. Be Patient: Communication takes time and patience. Don’t expect it to happen overnight! It is important to remember that building trust in a relationship takes time and effort, but it will be worth it in the end.
